
Hardy leads the University’s efforts to create effective alliances with private enterprise in local, state, national, and international markets that are focused on practical applications of sponsored research and meaningful economic development throughout Arizona. In that role, he is responsible for engaging the expertise of ASU faculty and the resources of ASU in the pursuit of solutions to challenges faced by commercial interests in select industries and technologies. His work also involves active representation of the University and strategic involvement in economic policy matters and economic development projects throughout the state.
Immediately prior to his arrival at ASU, Hardy was President of g inc., a management consulting firm in South Carolina and Virginia involved in strategic business planning and sustainable real estate development technologies and projects. Earlier in his career, Hardy was the Executive Director of Digital Knowledge Ventures, the new media entrepreneurial unit of Columbia University. There, he had executive management responsibility for the development of partner collaborations, licensing of content-based intellectual property, and creation of technology solutions related to the publication of digital content to a variety of external audiences.
Throughout his career of more than twenty-five years as corporate counsel to Fortune 50 and NASDAQ firms and co-founder of a number of startup and early stage enterprises, he has been a leader in the formation and operation of innovative enterprises built on advances in a variety of new technologies.
Hardy received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, a Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law at American University, and a Masters of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in the City of New York.
Hardy represents the University as a member of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and the Arizona Economic Resources Organization.
