Beth Israel – Associate Vice President for Research Administration

Beth IsraelIsrael is responsible for overseeing the research support offices critical for assisting faculty and researchers in conducting first-rate research. These offices include the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects Administration, the Research Compliance Office, and the Department of Animal Care and Technologies.

Prior to joining ASU, Israel worked at Columbia University for 35 years. Most recently, she was the Associate Vice President for Postdoctoral Affairs where she was responsible for creating and implementing policies, hosting career-development workshops, and counseling and problem solving for postdoctoral research scholars and fellows. Prior to that she was the Executive Director of Columbia’s Office of Projects and Grants and was responsible for policy creation in response to internal and external forces, oversaw the implementation of a new research system, provided institutional guidance on various university committees, and improved communication between the office and the faculty.

She has served on many national committees and boards including those of the Council on Governmental Relations, the National Council of University Research Administrators and the Federal Demonstration Partnership and has made numerous presentations to and on behalf of these groups.
